The Pyth oracle provides per slot asset price updates, which is a key piece of building a robust exchange with up to date pricing. This ensures our on chain pricing is accurate and the Zeta platform security mechanisms can function as expected (margining system and liquidations).
Zeta uses two separate onchain oracles:
is the primary oracle. If a valid price exists that is sufficiently recent, we will use it without checking the secondary oracle.
is the secondary oracle, and it kicks in when the primary oracle's price is too stale. If we have a valid, recent price here then we use it.
Additionally, if both oracles are stale, we check the average of the last prices from both, and use it if it's sufficiently recent and stable.
